What We Do:

The Registrars of Voters are elected to a two-year term to fulfill the duties of Registrar of Voters that are prescribed in Connecticut General Statutes. There are two registrars, one from each major political party.

The Registrars of Voters register voters from all political parties and are responsible to the State for maintaining current voter registration records.

They also conduct all referenda, primaries, and general elections held within Woodstock as required by Statute.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING:

TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 2012 PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY

TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2012 STATE, DISTRICT AND MUNICIPAL PRIMARY

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2012 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Two primaries and the November election will be held in 2012.  Voting hours for all events are 6:00am to 8:00pm

The Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Tuesday April 24, 2012, the State, District and Municipal Office Primary will be held on Tuesday August 14, 2012. 

Only electors registered with a major party are eligible to vote in these primaries.

The Presidential Election will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINES

For both Primaries, the registration cut-off dates are as follows:

NEW VOTER MAIL IN REGISTRATIONS  must be postmarked by April 19th and August 9th respectively and received by noon on the day before the Primary.

UNAFFILIATED VOTER MAIL IN REGISTRATIONS (where the unaffiliated voter is switching to a major party) must be received by April 10th and August 9th respectively.

IN PERSON REGISTRATIONS will be accepted until 12 noon the day before the event.

SWITCHING FROM ONE MAJOR PARTY TO ANOTHER there is a 90 day waiting period - that deadline was January 24th for the Presidential Primary and it is May 14th for the August Primary.

SPECIAL IN PERSON REGISTRATION SESSIONS will be held on the following dates for the two Primaries:

April 10, 2012 5:00pm - 7:00pm lower level Town Hall for the Presidential Preference Primary

July 31, 2012  12 noon - 2:00pm lower level Town Hall for the State, District and Municipal Office Primary.

For the November 2012 Election the registration cut-off dates are as follows:

HAND DELIVERED MAIL IN REGISTRATIONS must be received by October 23,2012

REGULAR MAIL IN REGISTRATIONS must be postmarked by October 23, 2012 and received by November 5, 2012

IN PERSON REGISTRATIONS will be accepted until 8:00pm on Tuesday October 30, 2012 and there is also a........

SPECIAL REGISTRATION SESSION Tuesday October 30, 2012 from 9:00am - 8:00pm.

SPECIAL LIMITED REGISTRATION SESSION only for voters who became 18 years old, became a U.S. Citizen or moved to the Town of Woodstock on or after October 30, 2012 will be held on Monday November 5, 2012 from 9:00am - 5:00pm at the Town Hall, lower level.

Who can work at the polls? 

Answer: Any Woodstock resident 16 years of age or older.  Pay is $10.00 an hour.  Contact the registrar by email if interested.
